Carmarthen Athletic RFC are delighted to announce the appointments of our new senior coaching team. A warm welcome is extended to both Mike King & Gareth Rees and we wish them every success at Athletic Park.
MIKE KING, WRU Level 3 Coach (Head Coach)
Began coaching at Carmarthen Athletic under 7's and continued through the club's age groups to Youth and Druids XV, winning the league with the Youth XV. Also coached Carmarthen & District Schools under 11s & under 15s, winning the National Plate with the under 15s. His Club 1st XV coaching experience began at Nantgaredig RFC (for three seasons) and the highly successful last two seasons at Felinfoel RFC where they were crowned League 1 West Champions in consecutive seasons. His father the late Tom King played with distinction for Athletic in the 60s/70s and two of his sons Rhodri & Ryan also play for the club.
GARETH REES, WRU Level 3 Coach (Forwards Coach)
Began coaching at Llangennech RFC juniors. Also coached Mynydd Mawr & Dinefwr Schools under 15s, East Carmarthenshire under 15s & under 16s, WRU West Carmarthenshire under 19s and Scarlets Academy under 16s (East & West). He has coached Club 1st XV level at Kidwelly RFC and Llanelli Wanderers RFC.
