Sad day as vandals strike!

In the early hours of last Monday, four individuals illegally entered our changing room block at Athletic Park. They proceeded to commit what can only be described as a wanton act of mindless vandalism.

The persons in question smashed two locked doors from their hinges, damaging not only the doors but also the door frames, locks and handles. The physiotherapy/medical and kitchen areas were the rooms affected. No property was stolen, except maybe some confectionary from the Juniors kitchen, which makes this deplorable action even more senseless.

Thanks to the overwhelming response and support of our wonderful community, along with the diligence and rapid response of Dyfed Powys Police, four males were apprehended, arrested and placed in custody within 24 hours. The matter is now in the hands of the Police who will proceed with prosecution through the courts.

We have been staggered by the amount of support that we have received from within and without the rugby fraternity via social media, telephone & personally. The analytics on our Twitter account show that more than 89,000 people have viewed one of our tweets, with 6,400 total engagements and over 1,000 responses. These figures continue to rise on a daily basis. It is heartwarming to think so many appreciate what our club's volunteers do regularly to provide facilities for some 300 players. We are extremely grateful for all the empathy and support - thank you.

Athletic Park is our 'home' and pride & joy, and we shall do everything we can to defend it just like any other home owner. We now dust ourselves down and move on to what we do best. Roll on the new season!
