Many congratulations to former Athletic Junior player Dan Thomas on winning the European Challenge Cup with Premiership Rugby high flyers Bristol Bears. They overcame French giants Toulon 32-19 in tonight's final.
Open side flanker Dan has been consistent for the west country club under the guidance of head coach Pat Lam. He has been named 'Man of the Match' on numerous occasions, named in the Championship Dream Team 2018 and won the Bears supporters 'Player of the Year' in the same year, he has also been named in the Premiership 'Team of the week'. High accolades indeed for a farming lad from Croesyceiliog.
His playing career began with the club's Junior Section before moving to Scarlets Academy, Llanelli RFC and crossing the border to represent Gloucester and eventually Bristol Bears. He also represented Wales at U-20 level. His father Richard and brother Lewis played for Athletic 1st XV and mum Delyth was an ever present supporter at matches.
The club is extremely proud of Dan's success at the highest level, including now - a European Cup Winner! Llongyfyrchiadau!
