ATHLETIC 7 NEWCASTLE EMLYN 21
Former Red & Blacks skipper Arwel Davies who is now coaching at Emlyn, brought a strong playing squad down to Athletic Park for this preseason friendly.
The home side showed plenty of commitment and were competitive throughout. After taking a 7-0 interval lead with an interception converted try, the second half saw the visitors come on strong with sustained pressure to score three converted tries in the final fifteen minutes.
The home coaches will be well pleased with the efforts of the young Red & Blacks considering the unavailability of a number of players for the game. Next Saturday, 27th August the Athletic play their second & final preseason match, at home versus Resolven RFC, kick off 2.30pm
