ATHLETIC DRUIDS 10 NEWCASTLE EMLYN DREIGIAU 0 - Match abandoned.

With the Druids leading League leaders Dreigiau by two tries courtesy of Heulyn Evans & Chris 'Shrek' Jones, the entertaining game was abruptly halted on around fifteen minutes for good reason. The visitors lock forward Dafydd Rees (pictured) had received an injury and lay motionless on the turf. It was quickly realised that the player was in distress as he had lost sensation in his arms & legs. Medical personnel & players assisted with holding his head still & keeping him warm until emergergency assistance arrived. With a duty of care & safety of the player paramount, it was decided by both captains & referee to sensibly abandon the match.

We are very grateful to the medical first responder & ambulance crew for their expert care and careful transportation of the player to Glangwili. We are also very thankful to NHS staff at the hospital for their care & compassion.

After an over night stay, we are pleased to announce that feeling has returned to his limbs, the MRI scan was clear & 'Daf Box' (as he is affectionately known) is expecting to be discharged soon. We wish Daf well for a full & speedy recovery.

ATHLETIC YOUTH 19 BYNEA YOUTH 7

This match was switched to Athletic Park at the request of Bynea, due to the unavailability of a pitch at Bynea. A minute of respectful silence was observed in tribute to former Athletic Youth & 1st XV captain Mike (Mouser)  Thomas & young sportsman Kyle (Sweets) Griffiths. An entertaining first half played in difficult conditions, was dominated by the young Red & Blacks who raced to a 19-0 half time score. Try scorers were: Ryan King (2) & Deian Morgan, Tom Davies added two conversions.

In the second period, the visitors were much more resolute and scored a well deserved converted try of their own, while keeping Athletic's efforts to zero.

Athletic Youth now sit joint top of the table with Lampeter Youth. Both teams are 3 from 4.
