The Club is devastated to learn of the sad passing of life long member Roy Davies. He passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday 28th February, aged 80.

Roy was a true gentleman, respected by all who were privileged to have known him. His 'happy go lucky' demeanor and willingness to help anyone were very evident. He enjoyed nothing more than being in the company of good friends, with his late beloved wife Jen, having a laugh and a pint or two at the Clubhouse. 

Roy was a long serving loyal Committe Member who worked tirelessly for the Youth Section and helped many of the youngsters achieve their rugby playing ambitions which saw so many go on to play the game in senior rugby and indeed at higher levels. Always 'hands on' Roy was very active in completing the many tasks that were asked of him, often going beyond  basic requirements, such was the perfectionist that he was. Many pieces of the memorabilia that adorn the Clubhouse walls that you see today are attributed to Roy & his trusty drill!

In his professional life, during the 1980's, Roy joined the Carmarthen BT Engineers as an installer after working for the former  Hurdens Motor Factors in College Road . A happy time was spent at the former BT HQ in Dolgwili with many Athletic friends who were also employed there up to his retirement from the workplace.

Roy and wife Jen enjoyed their retirement, especially the many holidays and cruises that they spent together with their great friends, Barrie and Liz Jones.

He will be sorely missed by us all at the Club and indeed by the community at large. Our heartfelt condolences are conveyed to his daughter Karen, Martin and his three grandsons Eddie, Carl & Danny. Our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.

We bid our fond farewell to Roy in a 'Celebration of his life', to be held at the Indoor Training Centre at Athletic Park on Friday 22nd March at 4 pm. The Clubhouse will be open for refreshments from 2 pm.
