Today's preseason friendly played at Cae Castell in Furnace proved to be a very useful exercise for both Clubs.

Although the result was irrelevant, our 7-12 triumph was a confidence booster for many young players who were representing the Red & Blacks for the first time. Half the usual first team personnel were unavailable for the game and opportunities were therefore given to fringe players to shine. The boys did not disappoint and held up their hands for consideration of future selection.

The match itself was well balanced with Athletic gaining the upper hand in the first period and the Cherries attacking strongly in the second half.

It is hoped to arrange one further friendly next mid week at Athletic Park.
