Congratulations Gerald

We offer warmest congratulations to Wales and British & Irish Lions legend Gerald Davies on his appointment as the next President of the Welsh Rugby Union.

We are extremely proud to have nominated Gerald for this most important office. He succeeds the current incumbent Dennis Gethin after the WRU AGM on 17th November.

A native of Llansaint, he turned out briefly for our Youth whilst attending the former Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Carmarthen. He was later educated at Loughborough College, Emmanuel College, Cambridge & Cardiff University.

A Cambridge Blue & Barbarian, he made 46 appearances for Wales scoring 72 points, and five test appearances for the Lions, scoring 9 points.

He has previously served as a director on the WRU board, was the manager of the Lions in 2009 and he was later appointed Chairman of the British & Irish Lions.

He was a much respected rugby columnist for The Times newspaper for many years and is currently Chairman of the Guinness Pro 14.

There is no doubt that THOMAS GERALD REAMES DAVIES will be the perfect ambassador for Welsh Rugby around the globe. Da iawn a pob lwc Gerald.
