A fully commited effort from both sides ensured that the large contingent of both sets of supporters were entertained in this local derby.

Newly promoted Nant have produced some fine results in their 2 West debut season, including running their town neighbours close in the game at Johnstown in September. From the start of this season, Athletic have struggled to field a settled first XV, but in recent weeks, players have returned to the fore making a big improvement in performances and results.

Saturday was confirmation of improvement and the final score slightly flattered the home side. The dominance of the Red & Blacks forwards in both tight & loose play was evident for all to see. Every credit must be given to the resolve of Nantgaredig's determination to stay in the game, but it proved to be a deserved victory for Athletic in the end.

Red & Blacks tries were scored by: wing Jack Hannington (2) and hooker Paul Gravell. All five attempts at goal failed (3 conversions & 2 penalties). 

Next Saturday sees the first of two home games on the bounce against Tenby United on the 4th. followed by another local derby against Kidwelly on the 11th.
