RIP Brian Nodes

It is with much regret that we announce the passing of former Athletic Captain Brian Nodes. After a long fight with illness, he sadly passed away on Monday 19th October at his home in Fyfe, Scotland, aged 88 years.

B. H. Nodes skippered the Club for two seasons in 1954-55 & 1956-57 and wore the Red & Black shirt with distinction. He was also the first captain of the Druids when our 2nd.XV was formed in 1960-61season.

The late Neil Davies, author of 'Early in the morning....a history of Carmarthen Athletic 1944-1994', wrote "At present, Brian is the Chief Tourist Officer at Blair Castle in Scotland, and he is the only non Scotsman in the Earl of Atholl's 100 strong private army". Although he lived his latter years in Scotland, he always stayed true to his roots and spoke of his time at the Club with great fondness. It is particularly moving that he asked to be dressed in Red & Black for his final farewell.

Our condolences and thoughts are with his sons Gareth and Michael, daughters Sue Robertson & Sian Hugo and granchildren Jessica, Natalie & Emily at this sad time.

Rest in Peace dear Brian.
